For those who understand the French system, we all know that law schools are far inferior to elite engineering and business schools and Pos sciences. Yes, the graduates who succeed at the Sorbonne/Assas are of high caliber, but the institutions are not as competitive as Harvard, Oxbridge, or even Exeter/Sheffield in undergraduate studies. Many of the best French law graduates go to a business school or a science po and study law part-time from the 2 years of preparation to the 3/4 years of business school. Those who don`t will do 2 master`s degrees in France and then go to the US/UK to pursue an LLM at a world-class school. The following institutions have courses in this subject, but not enough data to be included in the ranking: Each of the subject classifications is created from four sources. The first two are QS`s global surveys of academics and employers, which are used to assess the international reputation of institutions in each field. The other two indicators assess the impact of the research based on search citations per article and the h-index in the topic concerned. These come from Elsevier`s Scopus database, the world`s most comprehensive database of research citations. I still think that people who work in the US offices of American companies must be very upset that their British colleagues are being paid the same as them! The Cravath scale is due to these ridiculous tuition fees in American law. People who always talk about the salaries of big British companies versus American companies in London never seem to mention that this is obviously the reason for this.

What does the population have to do with anything? It doesn`t make the point you think when the UK also has about 3 times as many law schools. I agree that most people want a degree from the US or the UK – usually Ivy League or Oxford or equivalent. People don`t rush to Leeds Mate when they have a choice. As I said, they share a lot of the graduate programs, which I think are stronger. Not for students – the choice for most of those coming to the UK to do an LLB is because (i) they ultimately want to work or live in London or (ii) because their home jurisdiction is not as well recognised/they want to be able to qualify as an English lawyer; not because UK LLBs are strong. There are also usually separate entry requirements and/or cohorts for domestic and international students, so the point about people pushing to study in England is irrelevant – many of the numbers don`t mean competition is fierce. It is the selection criteria that count. Freie Universität Berlin is the top-ranked newcomer, starting in 35th place. Browse U.S.
